Ts give it their all, but Hampton Wick Royal get home with a bit to spare

The Twickenham CC U15s gave it a good go, but ultimately they came off second best in the U15 plate final on 24 July (see here for the card). Hampton Wick Royal were worthy winners, getting home by 28 runs.

Middle order resilience
Hampton Wick Royal won the toss and decided that they were going to have first dig. Skipper Stefanos Alston set the tone at the top, hitting a 22-ball 24 to get things moving.

Aarush Jain and Oscar Prescott-Brann then made breakthroughs as the Ts pushed back. The HWR middle order nonetheless held firm, and the efforts of Ki'Marley Lodge (21 off 23) and Rupert Fuller (23 off 27) were enough to push them north of 100.

The Ts nonetheless kept impressively at it; Ben Parker (2-17) and Thomas Diamond (also 2-17) bowled nicely, whilst the ever-consistent Hugh Bunch also bagged a brace.

HWR bowlers take the strain
In reply it was Aarush Jain who quickly became the cornerstone of the Twickenham innings. The opener knuckled down and ended with 25 (off 44).

But, the runs weren't quite coming quickly enough around him and indeed wickets kept falling, too. The Ts were drifting behind the rate.

Parker and Diamond did all they could in the middle and both made it to double figures, but tight bowling all round and a particularly impressive spell from Ali Shahjahan (2-12) was enough to seal the deal for the Wick.

Second though Twickenham ultimately came, they can be very proud of the season that they have had. There's been some excellent cricket and indeed some impressive results. Good stuff, folks.
