The TCC fantasy league reached a climax on Saturday and long-time leader JP Bowman ('Ts for Teas') kept his nerve and picked up the title. He wins glory, honour and most importantly ample bragging rights. Well done JP!
Bowman triumphant
Bowman ended up 290 points ahead of the pack (see here for the table). Parminder Singh (145) and Nikhil Nomula (107) were his main points scorers this week, although skipper Mehran Iqbal (66) and Hinay Dassani (52) also chipped in nicely.
Outgoing Third XI skipper, Connor Finney, celebrated not just a good win for his troops against Harrow Town on Saturday, his 'Monty's Pythons' also managed to squeeze past the mysterious Kim Jong Un ("If I lose then you all die!") and pinch a place on the podium. The margin there was just the 44 points.
Finney's side were the 'team of the week' (with 639 points) with Colin Blunden's marvellously named 'Stannah Stairlift XI' in second (593 points). Oli George's 'Frogs XI' (587) were third.
Overall, some of the club's grandees performed pretty well over the season. There were 53 sides in total and both club captain, Paul Johnson (10th), and club president, Jon Varney (12th) will be pleased with their season's work. Chairman Eugene Berger also more than held his own (8th). Whether Robbie Bosier will be quite so pleased is a moot point; 53rd and last for him, I'm afraid
Mehran Iqbal is MVP
The 4th team talisman, Mehran Iqbal, predictably finished as the club's MVP. The bearded assassin has had a phenomenal season, helping himself to 45 wickets. That's translated into 1,047 points. Great stuff, Mehran.
Carlos Nunes (807) came in second with the ever-reliable Hinay Dassani (775) in third. Nikhil Nomula (744) was fourth, whilst Don Manuwelge (668) was fifth. Good work one and all.
The TCC Dream Team - in terms of points won at least - would have looked like this. Interesting to note that it's very bowler heavy. Batters, the onus in 2022 is definitely you to sort this out!
1. Nikhil Nomula
2. Neville Talbot
3. Don Manuwelge
4. Carlos Nunes (wk)
5. Gurjit Sandhu
6. Tom Field
7. Rashid Mullazahdah
8. Adam Mather
9. Mehran Iqbal
10. Monty Panesar
11. Hinay Dassani
