1s and 2s lock horns with Chesham in Week 2 of pre-season

1s and 2s lock horns with Chesham in Week 2 of pre-season

Dan Hough25 Apr - 05:30

Ones host, the twos travel as the league season gets ever nearer

Week 2 of pre-season sees the Ts involved in a couple of potentially very interesting games. The ones host Home Counties League Chesham while the twos are off to Buckinghamshire to play their second string.

Ones looking to build
The ones won at Acton on 19 April (see here) and they'll no doubt be looking to continue that trend on 26 April. Skipper Carlos Nunes makes his seasonal debut, as do the irrepressible Neville Talbot and the club's resident Yorkshireman, Patrick Dixon. All three will no doubt be looking to hit the ground running.

Preet Himanshukumar and Donny Manuwelge are already nicely in the groove, Himanshukumar in particular looking good at Acton last week. All-rounder Nikhil Nomula is also a very welcome addition; Nunes's XI for the first league game of the season is beginning to take shape nicely.

Chesham won't, however, be push overs. They play in Division Two of the Home Counties League. That's more or less the same standard as Division One of the Middlesex County League. An interesting contest looks in the offing.

The 1st XI is Carlos Nunes, Patrick Dixon, Preet Himanshukumar, Ben Leale-Green, Alex Lowe, Adam Mather, Heath Mather, Don Manuwelge, Akash Multani, Nikhil Nomula and Neville Talbot

2s off to Chesham
Hinay Dassani did such an excellent job leading the twos last week against Acton that he's been roped in, sorry, rewarded with the task of repeating it on 26 April. He leads a side around the M25 to take on Chesham 2s.

That side has something for everyone in it. Chairman Eugene Berger brings and the big-hitting the brai-cooking skills, Ben Parer and Martin Fairn add the grizzled old-warhorse dimension and Anush Ganesh the forensic cricketing badger skills. Imran Niazi and Max Hunt add the enthusiasm of youth, whilst Devin Tomlinson adds that certain je ne sais quoi. It could be an emotional ride.

The 2nd XI will be selected from Hinay Dassani, Eugene Berger, Hiran Dissanayake, Martin Fairn, Anush Ganesh, Ollie George, Max Hunt, Rehan Naqvi, Imran Niazi, Ben Parer, Varad Rampal (wk), Nishan Singh and Devin Tomlinson.

Go well everyone.
